my first newspaper article.

I thought to write my first newspaper article was easy. The hardest part was to find questions to ask when interviewing. Putting all the interviews information together was the easiest part. The one thing I learned about writing this article was people don't like to be interviewed.

journalist on the job

There are many dangerous jobs in the world. But who would of guessed being a journalist was a dangerous job too. There is  a committee called CPJ (committee to protect journalist). They promote freedom of journalist. In some countries people can't be journalist. If they rebel and write like a journalist they will be killed. I think CPJ is a good committee and has been protecting journalist since 1981.

Lasantha Wickremetunge was a journalist in Sri Lanka. He was anti government and fought for his freedom as a journalist. He also wrote his own obituary so everybody knows about him the way he wanted them to. He was killed by the government by being shot. He wrote in his obituary "When I am finally killed, it will the government who kills me."

Daniel pearl was a journalist for the wall street journal. He was kidnapped in Pakistan in 2002 shortly after the 9/11 attack. When he was kidnapped his wife was pregnant with their first child. He was later beheaded by his kidnappers months after he was kidnapped. He was a talented Journalist and musician. He was remembered as a symbol of hope "a man who built bridges between diverse cultures."

What I learned in journalism

In  my journalism class this semester we learned how to write different kinds of leads. For example a scene setter lead is you describe the surrounding area of where the story happened. We also learned about ethics. We watched a movie called Shattered Glass that was about Stephen Glass who fabricated his stories. We also learned about famous reporters and news anchors who fabricated and plagiarized their stories.

The other thing we learned about was how to interview people and make their interviews into stories. In the stories we used the method called inverted pyramid we put the most important things first and the least important things last.

NY expected to release high school graduation data

I think this was good story because the graduation rates in new york are increasing meaning more students are graduating after 4 years of high school. The graduation rates are now at 74.3 percent. Also the difference between whites to hispanic and black gradating students is narrowing down.
Sevastopol student newspaper

I liked this article because we learned about yearbooks and learned about how to set a page up in the yearbook using in-design. I think it is cool for all those students getting awarded for their hard work they put into the yearbook.
journalism next

I liked this article because I think taking college classes while still in high school is a good idea because it will make an easier transition to college. Also it saves time because you graduate with an associate's degree and keep college credits. I wish I had an opportunity like this.
